Chain Of Custody

What is Chain of Custody (COC) for FSC® & PEFC™

It is exactly what it sounds like, an unbroken and documented chain of ownership (custody) all the way from the forest, via the mill, the importer and the supplier(s) to the end user. The organisations that set standards for Chain of Custody are FSC & PEFC.

FSC is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. PEFC International is an umbrella organisation that endorses national forest certification systems.

You can be sure that when you buy timber or timber based products from John Nicholls indentified by those all important letters FSC or PEFC you are saying: NO - to the destruction of the worlds forests and saying YES – to responsibility and well managed forests and woodlands.

What are the benefits of selling FSC & PEFC Certified products to your customers?

1.  It provides added value to the product, giving it a verifiable social and environmental quality.
2.  It demonstrates that you take the environmental concerns of your customers seriously.
3.  From a commercial point of view it assists with continued market access in an increasingly environmentally aware sector.

How do we prove to you that you are being supplied FSC & PEFC Certified products?
